You asked for other imitators who wouldn't make you (or me) cringe.
Dizzy Gillespie did a most original and highly amusing imitation on Louis' "70th Birthday Concert".
Luckily I taped this (it was before video recorders were normal household equipment), so I can enjoy it now and then, whenever I feel the need.
