Tom Wood asks:
Just a comment about "snipping" - why not a whole chorus ?

Anything can be cut, moved, added in, etc., normally. Even tempo
fluctuations can be handled, as I can slow a song down or speed it up
without changing the tone, even slowly slow music down as it slowly
rushes! You mention the applause being a problem. Doesn't need to be.
If you remove the sax solo, then his applause becomes the applause of
the soloist before him (that maybe hadn't got any, anyway, so it becomes
a nice surprise for him). You can add in a bit of applause & mix the
level on another track, but I would always try to use applause from the
gig, not applause fx which never fit the occasion properly. Pickup
notes can be a problem, but even that can be sorted out, usually.

Hint: if you work with an editor that is also a musician, things will
be easier.

Your mouths would drop if you could see what can be done! :>
You'll never hear it, 'cause if you hear it, then the editor hasn't done
his job properly!!
That's always a complaint with the record companies. "What are we
paying for? I don't hear anything wrong here!" :>

Someone asked if my Gregorian Chant work was for fun or commercial. 30
hours x 12 recordings = 360 hours! Those are commercial recordings.

I've only worked for pure fun on our band's records & restoration of
tapes of my Grandmother telling how she escaped the Turkish massacres in
an Armenian neighbourhood, finally ending up in the U.S. where she
married my Grandfather (a family arranged marriage) when she was 15.
All the rest is work, very enjoyable, but still work!

By the way, some of youse are calling me by the way I'm registered on
DJML.....James. Jim is less formal, and I'm not a terribly formal
person.

Cheers, Jim
