to put an end to this discussion on what Louis liked or not, I would like to
bring to your attention the book by Michael Cogswell, Louis Armstrong - The
Offstage Story Of Satchmo - the Official Book of Louis Armstrong House and
Archives - Colectors Press 2003
Michael Cogswell gives us very good idea of the man Louis, there are some
650 reels of tape at the Louis House (with music by Guy Lombardo, Erroll
Gardner, Benny Berigan, Tchaikowsky, Jelly Roll Morton, Ray Martino - all
things recorded by Louis for his own pleasure) - Louis left some 350 pages
with autobiographical writings - etc - for those living in New York or
visiting New York, just visit the archives and try to find out for all DJML
what Louis wrote on the new music
a full review of the book will be published in the next edition of
www.thejazzgazette.be
