Dear Craig,
The Anachronic Jazz Band has been discussed on the DJML in earlier days.
Wonderful stuff!
They show that just because a composition is 'modern', it can still be given
a 'trad' treatment.
Get the CDs - if they are still available.
My favourites: 
"Yardbird Suite' with clarinet, recorder, piano banjo & tuba. (Think
Clarence Williams.)
"Giants Steps" done with sheer enthusiasm in the style of King Oliver's
Creole Jazz Band.
