Dear Don,
Regarding your query:> There is a less well known ragtime piece entitled
Hungarian Rag by Julius Lenzberg, copyright 1913 by Remick. The sheet music
doesn't spell it out, but I assume it's based on the Hungarian rhapsodies.
Does anybody know of recordings?

Versions recorded from the era it was composed include:
Conway's Band (July 1913) on Timeless CD 070 (From Ragtime To Jazz. Vol 3)
Mayfair Dance Orchestra (1913)
Princes Band (19??)
Eubie Blake Trio (1917) also on Timeless CD 070 (From Ragtime To Jazz. Vol
3)
Ray Turner piano solo with rhythm (1949) for Capitol.
Richard Zimmerman's History of Ragtime LP (1970s)
Keith Taylor pianist from LA (1974-76)
Someone with better Classical ears than mine will have to comment on this
rag's similarity to any of the Franz Liszt Hungarian Rhapsodies, although I
do recognise a couple of borrowed strains.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
