it's making a recovery.

search, some of the old web addresses are still listed ( they're inactive)
but the new address shows up, too.

I repeat some information, I believe, because not all members see (or
remember) all the posts. I was active in AFJS in its formative stages and
served as pres in 94'-'95 and served as their newsletter editor for 9 years
( one of those years was when I served as president.) I left the board in
1998 when our Jazz Society of Pensacola took over the administration of
Pensacola JazzFest. Chuck Swan of Phoenix served as a (minimally) paid
Executive Director in recent years. Following his untimely death from a
heart attack, Don Jones ( ed. of American Rag) was serving as pres of AFJS.
He also tried to rescue work that Chuck Swan was doing.
Details of the transition of presidency from Jones to Siple are not known to
me. Don still runs some ads for AFJS in the American Rag.
I'm happy to hear that there has been renewed interest and activity in AFJS
and wish them well. I'm copying Randy Siple in hopes that he might give us
some additional information and share some of their plans for the future.
