Hi All,
This article was in our local newspaper Noosa News, I always thought Louis
to have no descendants! What's the deal here? I note he is
"Performing solo with electronic accompaniment Herb has been working
numerous local venues". Louis would turn in his grave.

'Hollywood'Herb brings special magic to Coast

If you are mature enough in years, you'll likely remember
the great New Orleans-born singer/trumpeter Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong
singing 'What A Wonderful World'.
That was in 1965, but in an echo of that magic, there's a new voice on the
Coast who brings back the melodic serendipity of the great man's bass voice,
and a lot more besides - Satchmo's great-grandson Herb.
Hollywood' Herb Johnston recently arrived in Peregian Beach with South
Australianborn wife Lisa to settle in, and bring a new dimension to the
Noosa music scene.
Born in New Orleans to a family of nine, Herb's first musical memories were
of his famous great-grandfather practising with his band.
Growing up and spending 20 years around Bourbon Street, Herb quickly got
into the routines of street performance, comedy and singing.
He has sung with Bobby Wimack, Missy Elliot and for five years he was the
opening act for New Orleans' own Neville Brothers shows at Tipitina's.
Herb has played all the famous Bourbon Street venues, including the Bourbon
Street Blues Bar, Crazy Corner and The Cat's Meow, as well as performing at
Superbowls, Olympic ceremonies and Hollywood conventions. and stints in
Chicago. Canada and in New Orleans French Quarter.
Since arriving, Herb has not been slow offthe mark in working the local
entertainment scene.
Performing solo with electronic accompaniment Herb ahs been working numerous
local venues.
In addition, he has put together a six-piece band called Hollywood Herb and
the Big Jazz Katz, which is currently playing Coolum Beach Surf Club on
Sunday afternoons, and Coolum Sands Chinese Restaurant on the Esplanade some
Friday nights.
Herb said the band would be playing Noosa venues soon."

Richard Stevens
