Hi Rob and DJML,

I cannot help regarding Irish influence of jazz music but Bunk who used to
play in the "Irish Channel" district said that you better not play there
unless you play Irish tunes.

Amongst the tunes that he recorded with his trio are "I'll Take You Home
Again Kathleen"and "Where The River Shannon Flows".This seems to indicate
that the Irish exercised some clout when it came to playing in their
territory.
