A special "thank you" to John Farrell for playing and posting so many
wonderful stride and dixieland tunes on his website!

His latest, "On the Sunny Side of the Street" is just great. My
favorite of them would probably "The Curse of an Aching Heart" (curse.mid).

For anyone who hasn't checked out his site, it's at:

http://homepages.tesco.net/~stridepiano/midifiles.htm

and you can go direct to the MIDI files at:
http://homepages.tesco.net/~stridepiano/midifiles.htm#midi

The wonderful thing about MIDI files is that they download very quickly
and can be played on just about any Windows PC, and probably most if not
all Mac's, and normally no special software is needed other than what is
already on the computers.

MIDI files, to put it simply, are like electronic piano rolls. They
don't contain recordings like you'd find on a cassette or CD, but they
contain the notes to be played and representations of all the various
instruments.

For anyone eager to find more MIDI files on the internet, a good search
engine for MIDI is at:
http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~ckelly/midi/help/midi-search.html

For example if you want to search for "Weary Blues" you could type
"weary" in the first blank, click search and see what choices come up.

Again, John, thanks for allowing us to enjoy all your fine creations!

Sincerely,
Bob Shoring
