Hey there Steve,
Wot is it with our mate Warren Vache, Sr?
8>)
He tells us how great is the Isham Jones composition "Spain", but omits advise us that the 14 May 1930 Brunswick version
is also on The Old Masters CD (MB133) Isham Jones Volume I.
For which Warren Sr wrote the excellent, authoritative notes.
I sometimes wonder how Warren is allowed to stay on the DJML.
His ego isn't big enough!
Apart from 'This Horn for Hire: Pee Wee Irwin', 'Back Beats and Rim Shots' and 'Jazz Gentry', Warren Sr is also the
author of the definite 'The Unsung Songwriters' (2000. Scarecrow Press).
A great read, essential reference work and a MUST for anyone interested in the background to those 'poets' from the
[quote] 'Golden Age of Songwriting'.
I enthusiastically second your call for Warren to tell us about his new book.
Kind regards,
Bill.
