A good example of the unusual tendencies in New Orleanian pronunciation is 
the word "artisan" as in Artisan Hall where Wooden Joe Nicholas, for instance, 
recorded. Most musicians seemed to have referred to it as "Ar-tee-sian" Hall 
leading some to infer that it had something to do with an artisian well which 
would be most unlikely with New Orleans' very high water table.
