[Dixielandjazz] never a wrong note

In a quote referring to the late Johnny Best, it was said he never
played a wrong note in his life. Now, I know that's just a figure of
speech, and I'm sure Mr. Best was an excellent player.

The subject, however, does bring up a particular subject I find
interesting.

I maintain, if while improvising, you never, ever play a wrong note, it
means that you aren't really "reaching out"....trying anything new. Any
of you out there that play regular gigs know that you can stick to the
"tried & true", and never play a wrong note. The wrong notes can appear
when you go out on a limb, trying something new.

If you don't try to fly, you can be sure you won't fall.
........Boring!

Jim
