Here folks is a follow up on my last post about event planners,
This person knows we have a Ten to thirteen piece International Touring act
and yet still solicits us to play her events. I have turned her down every
year for five years.

If any of you are desperate enough to take this job offer, for your band then
you and all of the rest of us will know what your band is really worth.
Surprisingly enough she will fill the streets with musicians, such is the state of
the economy for musicians who do not promote themselves beyond this level.

Cheers,

Tom Wiggins

HOLIDAY ENTERTAINERS WANTED

The Solano Avenue Association is now booking December holiday-specific
entertainers.  This could be you!  Here's the info:

• The SAA is paying $50 per 2-hour slot, doesn't matter if it is one person
or 20, it's still $50.  You are welcome to pass the hat to supplement.  Rain
cancels.

• The days you may choose from for outdoor street performances:
Saturdays    December 6,13,20
Sundays    December 7,14,21
Monday        December 22
Tuesday    December 23
Wednesday    December 24

• The time slots you may choose from are 1-3PM or 3-5PM.

• After you have chosen a date & time slot, we will assign you a location.
If you need to use electricity, we will give you the name of a business owner
who will let you plug into their store.  Please contact them directly and
confirm with them before hand as a courtesy.  Lower Albany has electricity in the
light fixtures about 12' high.  BYO extension cords and something to stand on
to reach it.  If you would rather be strolling, that works also!  If you want a
Berkeley location YOU MUST BE 100% ACOUSTIC - NOT EVEN A VOICE MIC.
Otherwise I have to get sound permits and I don't want to do that.

• We're looking for holiday music or entertainment and dress.  We do not want
loud rock or blues bands, sorry!  Get out your funny red hats, red boas and
tinsel, or perhaps you'd like to wear blue & white shawls.  We welcome the
diversity of ethnic celebrations during the winter solstice season.

• Choose your time slots now -- no more than three per group, please, with
your specific request for date, time, etc.

I'll be out of the office until Nov. 8 so you have a few days to figure out
your preferences.  We're looking forward to a wonderful holiday season!
