Marty:
Dave resides in upper Michigan and teaches jazz piano at the Interlochen
Music School. He played piano quite a bit on my last gig which was a regular
weekend thing in Oakbrook. He would drive down to visit his kids and play
with me. He has pretty much quit playing trombone. For health reasons I
quit playing trombone and bandleading going on 3 years. I am residing in
Wisconsin.
His phone number is 231-882-2354 He would love to hear from you. He does
not have an email. He called me just a couple of weeks ago and we had a
nice talk. I'm going to send him your post with your kind words about him.
I think that I know who is on your album in question but I'll leave that up
to him to sort out as he had several albums out in the same vein but some
difference in personnel.

Recording LPs to CD

these snippets from several of the venues. I kind of think that after
buying airline tickets from Florida to SACTO and paying admission to the
fest, it is not necessary to buy any CDs unless I particularly want one or
two. I have bought many , many CDs in my life time.

commercial CD. Let's see. a trombone duel between Russ Phillips and a banjo
player-turned-trombonist who I can't name at the moment,{edit- Bill
Dendle}on the tune "I Never Knew", a rendition of "Sing, Sing, Sing by the
Bill Allred band, and one of the last performances of trombonist Speigle
Wilcox who died shortly after.

there:

online $25 for, only to get it in the mail and when I played it, none of the
band members are named other than the leader on the gig- Dave Remington,
trombone.

by the "key" men from one of the best known dixieland bands in the world
(edit note:They certainly are not well known here)and I wish we could use
their names, for their being on this album only proves a tribute to Dave's
musicianship. Why supplement an established group with outside musicians you
may ask. The answer if you know Dave is very simply a matter of progression
and experimentation with new sounds and ideas in arranging that require the
"avante garde" Dixieland musicians."

is VEE JAY LP 3030. Not to be confused with two other VEE JAY Remington
products "Danceable Dixieland Jazz," or VEE JAY LP 3009- which I own-
"Dixieland on the Rocks."

recognize by sound, but on this record I cannot. HELP! One last thing-
anyone have an e-mail addy for Dave Remington? The last time I talked to
Dave was in 1956-57 in Chicago. Dave and I and Chuck Hedges used to share
bandstands for a while back then.
