[Dixielandjazz] Your opinions on "sit-ins" please?

There are seferal variables to consider. What is the house policy? How do
you determine the ability of the one askign to sit in? Is his a regular
things with an individiual -- does he expect to do so every time he shows
up? And if you do it for one, do you then have to do it for everyone else?
These and other considerations need to be factored in.
There are some guys that ask to sit in, do it once, then are there with
their horns in hands every week. Anf sometimes it is "get me on, then get me
off" situation. I would be sore tempted to say..."Get your own band" in such
cases, but every situation means making a judgment call. Can be a slippery
slope once started. Of course if Bix or Teagarden show up, bring 'em on up!
