Dear friends,
Re: "Mabel's (Maybelle's) Dream" (1923 Ike Smith).
Who was she and what was it?
Perhaps Mabel/Maybelle was the subject of "Buddy's Habit" (1923 Arnett
Nelson).
Not such a silly connection, as you will see.
Who was Ike Smith?
There was a piano playing Ike Smith who recorded 2 titles, "Fighting Joe
Louis/Chicago State Street Blues", with his Chicago Boys for Champion in
Chicago on 9 Sept 1935. (I have them on a Document CD.)
And who was the cltist? Probably Arnett Nelson with Joe Walker, as; Ike
Smith, p/v; & John Lindsay, sb.
See. It's quite easy to manipulate facts.

Kind regards,
Bill.
PS: Add "Oh! Mabel" by the California Ramblers (13 Dec 1924 & 19 Jan 1925)
to the list of 'Mabel' tunes.
