All you need to know about Mr Shillito?
SHILLITO, John Norman "Kid"                 Trumpet
1938, Sep 3: Sheffield, England
Played cornet when young, and formed the Gloryland Jazzmen in the mid-1950s 
but moved to London in 1957 to study at LSE (the London School of Economics if 
you must know). However, he still managed to gig with the Ceramic City 
Stompers whenever possible, plus gigging with some London groups. In 1959 he 
subsequently took over the band of one Dave Reynolds (the Jubilee Jazzband) according 
to Charters but possibly he means Dave Brennan. Be that as it may, Kid 
Shillito then had a year with Micky Ashman, gigged around, and moved to Scotland for 
a time. With time out for National Service he moved in a southerly direction 
and in 1971 was with John Bastable's Chosen Six. His first visit to New Orleans 
was in 1977, and the following year he took his Mardi Gras Band to play at 
Jazz Fest there. Having moved to the west of England in 1973 he has led several 
bands around the region, a current one being his Dixie Ramblers. His style has 
been likened to that of the late Henry Red Allen.  Appeared at the Bude 
Festival in August, 2002, still playing lustily.
