Perhaps it is a progression used a lot in lHawaiian music. I have never hear 
that before.

It's a great progression usually followed by a series of resolutions leading 
back to the tonic . . .

F ---> D / D7 ---> G / G7 ---> C / C7 --- > F  (as in the final phrase of 
"San Francisco Bay Blues"
