Press Release

CASS CASWELL BIG BAND

PRINCES HALL - SUNDAY 27th APRIL 2003 - 8pm

Cass, who brought his six piece Allstars to the Clevedon Jazz Club’s
regular venue last year for a very successful evening, formed his Bristol
based Big Band in 1999 after trawling the West Country and the Midlands for
top professional big band players and soloists. The band is enjoying ever
increasing success throughout the West of England and has shown its talents
to great effect in Bristol last year with sell out ‘gigs’ at the renowned
Tobacco Factory and elsewhere.

This year Cass is taking the band even further afield and has offered
Clevedon Jazz club the opportunity to present the band in Clevedon at the
Princes Hall for the start of their 2003 season which begins a month
earlier with a ‘gig’ at the Medina Theatre in Newport on the Isle of Wight.

Cass’s ethos is to play a mixed programme of the best of the Big Band
classics made famous by Ellington, Basie, Buddy Rich and others, whilst
constantly adding numbers by contemporary arrangers, some of whom are in
the band!

If you’re into the Big Band - Big Sound of the 1940’s and 50’s this ‘gig’
on Sunday 27 April at Princes Hall is the one for you. With the venue set
out in normal Clevedon Jazz Club style - chairs around tables - it will be
a night to remember. The night when ‘real’ Big Band music, played by a
professional Big Band, played for Clevedon!

Advance tickets, at £8-50 each are on sale from the CLIC shop in Clevedon
and from Trev on Club Night - or you can call Trev on 01275 343210 to
arrange delivery by post.

Good Jazzin'
