[Dixielandjazz] Re; Goldenrod Revival

I was there that year, as band boy with the New Black Eagles.  I think
that is the year that a 6 foot tall waitress and I ended up going to a
jam session after hours. (I barely reach 5 feet tall, by the way).  ISTR
she drove an Opal and she was a law student.   You'd think I could
remember her name 8-(.

Hi Don:
We both would have a problem with that passageway today.  One of my
favorite
recollections of that infamous route to the backstage area was the
evening
Turk (He always carried this thing with him just in case he would need
it)
was dressed in his gorilla suit and was heading along the passageway to
do
some stunt with the Salty Dogs.  As he squeezed by an oncoming musician
the
fellow remarked, "Hi Turk, how's it going?"  Some disguise!
Turk was a bit stunned that he was so easily recognized but continued on
back to finish his gag.  He had previously taken one of Wayne Jones drum
sticks and sawed a hairline crack in it and then planted it on Wayne's
drum
set. He then appeared on stage as this enraged gorilla,   grabbed
Wayne's drum stick and bit it in two.
Turk loved practical jokes.
