can you tell me anything about a cornetist whom I have heard
recently
playing with Franz Jackson, by the name of Sonny Turner, I think.

You bet I can, and am so glad you asked! Sonny Turner is one of my
favorite players and favorite people to hang with. I've known Sonny for
over twenty years, first at the O'Hare Gaslight Club back in 1981 where we
worked 5 nights a week, and then on countless gigs around Chicago. He
plays his ass off and sings pretty well, too; and there is absolutely no one
more pleasant to have on a gig or to drink at the bar with. I do rightly
love that guy! Used to hire him; Beebe used to hire him: he can go swing or
modern, probably a bit more bop than swing, but always enjoyable--he has so
damn much fun himself!

I haven't seen Son in awhile now and look forward to that super Clark
Terry flugelhorn sound of his next gig we have together, whenever it may be!
You run into Son, you give him my best.

Charlie
