Listmates:

Here is a note from Albert Haim posted on another jazz list about the
"Bix Night" at the JVC Festival in NYC. If you are in the big apple.,
don't miss this one. (About the NYTimes listing)

Ben Ratliff's account is rather incomplete. First, the concert is
produced by Randy Sandke and Richard Sudhalter. Randy was mentioned,
but Sudhalter was not. I am sure Sudhalter's name is familiar to all
(co-author of Bix, Man and legend; author of Lost Chords and of the
recent Hoagy Carmichael's biography). Second, Ratliff failed to
mention that the concert will be preceded by a panel discussion
-6:15-7:15pm- with the legendary George Avakian, Vincent Pelote of
Rutgers' Institute of Jazz Studies), Randy Sandke & Richard
Sudhalter.
It should be a great evening for Bixophiles and jazzophiles alike.
Here is the complete program and roster of musicians.
