Dear John,
Thanks for that article about Naxos vs Capitol/EMI.
It is always great to see the smug 'big boys' put back in their box now and
then.
Capitol are particularly bad in the OKOM (hot music) field, so do not have MY
sympathy.
They are sitting on so much great stuff recorded in the 40s and 50s, but seem
reluctant to reisssue it.
A dog-in-the-manger attitude?
Indifferent?
Or don't they know (or care) that it is there?
Check out the pages and pages of Capitol CDs on the Worlds Records' site.
Nothing to interest us there.
A breakthrough occurred several years ago when they let Mosaic put out a limited
12CD Capitol set.
But this merely scratched the surface.
Where are the wanted CDs (including unissued sides) by Pete Dailey, Red Nichols,
Sharkey, Pee Wee Hunt, Goodman, Bob Crosby, et al?
Locked away!
And woe betide anyone who dares 'pirate' them!
Kind regards,
Bill.
