Hi all,
Tom Wiggins writes:

>Rebels
>are winning.
Ahhh . . . we wish that were true with dixieland. But the truths of
dixieland are:
1. There are no more rebels in it.
2. Those who play it are "preserving" and "protecting" and not doing
ANYTHING which could be considered innovative, exploratory, or avant garde.
3. Dixieland will never be POPULAR as measured in terms of CD sales,
recording company hypes, mass marketing of music, money earned in personal
appearances or any criteria by which POPULARITY is measured.
How much does Eminem get for a public appearance?
How much does (name your favorite, most popular dixie band here) get for a
public appearance?
I rest my case.
