I won't comment on Bert's response to Don Rogan. but I thought I was rather
gentle. I wasn't offended by Don's remarks but at the same time I thought
Don could have used a little advice.

For example, on one's first posting on the DJML (or any mailing list for
that matter) one ought to take a moment to introduce him/herself and say
something positive about being in our company. It's a little disconcerting
to have a stranger pop up in our midst and, without preamble, start
badmouthing cornet players (or anybody for that matter).

Don, if you're listening (reading this) you might give a little thought
about tact when writing about your fellow musicians, most of whom you don't
know. I admire your strong feelings about our music but to tell you the
truth, it seemed a bit tactless and rude.

I don't want to sound too pedantic so I'll end here with the comment that
I'm not looking forward to a response from Don telling me I'm wasting my
time and that he'll call 'em the way he sees 'em regardless of whom he
offends.

Respectfully submitted,

Bill "again welcoming Don to the DJML" Gunter
