Steve,

We used to do this very thing in St. Louis. Lots of fun. 

First, try to talk your principal into sets that are 25 minutes tops. That age group will have a lot of trouble with 45 minutes - no matter how entertaining you are.

Also, be sure and include a tune that outlines the roles of the different instruments. Before the tune, let each musician play a few bars on his instrument so the kids can hear what it sounds like by itself. Then put it together. You know the bit.

Finally, don't forget the ole' Q & A session. It will be the most entertaining part for YOU.
