Apparently my paragraphs of praise of Benny Carter didn't register with Mr. 
Broadie....

"Why not simply acknowledge that they were both great and that further 
comparison
makes little sense?"

No "comparison" was made....both acknowledged geniuses were praised...the 
object was not to compare,  but to pay tribute.

Suddenly, I remember why I got off this mailing list three years ago and only 
recently returned......
