Nice analysis, as usual, Steve. I'm not interested in how many ghost bands
and groups there are so long as no one's rights are being infringed upon,
and professional quality is maintained.

You mention that you have a pool of 40 excellent musicians to draw from.
This makes me greatly jealous. 12 years ago I was leader of the Dixie 111
Jazz Band and had a pool of about 20 good players to draw from. On my photo
site most of them are with me in a photo taken about 10 years ago.. Of the
15 or so in the picture, 3 of us are now alive. I'm finding it almost
impossible to find enough "live" quality musicians to book a gig.
Consequently I've turned to technology, my Roland XP 50 digital work
station, where I've made arrangements where I can turn any instruments on or
off, perform and ad lib on the keyboard or on acoustic instruments, usually
tenor sax and clarinet, and pull off a pretty good trad presentation as a
one man band. So far I'm not popular enough to where bi-location is
required to fill my schedule. And I've had no problems with people
pretending to me elsewhere. I'm inclined to believe, with my limitations,
this is very unlikely to happen! But it's fun to dream! Dick B
