Steve et al;
Once again I thank you for your responses. I was able to convey my message
without having to say it. As far as groups performing simultaneously, I
think it is still wrong. When I was working in the town of the mouse
(Orlando) there was an entertainment complex that was in direct competition
with the big D. There were several occasion that the A band would be doing
the nightly show in the Big Room while a trio or quartet would perform
private corporate parties in the complex's conference center. We all had
performed the night show so we all knew the material of the A band.
Occasionally the booker would book the Red Hot Mama from the A band to stop
by and perform a few songs each set. Even with A band material and the Red
Hot Mama we were booked as the Good Time Trio or Quartet as to not cause
confusion the A band which was performing 100 yards away.

Not at all, I agree with Mike that the Assunto family is being ripped off by
the usurpers. That was never in question. I'm just saying simultaneous gigs
are OK and always have been in the music business world. I do not condone
any
kind of gigs under the Dukes of Dixieland name by anyone but the Assunto
family.
Cheers,
Steve
