Here is everything I have learned about reeds so far:

1. Always have a good one.

2. Never carry more than one (1) good reed - that way you'll
   always know which one to use.

3. Once you know which reed is the good one, leave it on the 
   mouthpiece - that way you'll never notice the crud that
   builds up inside.

3. If your 'good' reed isn't, try changing them but be sure
   to smash the tip of the bad one - that way you'll never 
   again use that reed by mistake.

4. Always bring another axe - that way even if you can't find 
   a good reed for one axe you can probably find one for the.

5. Even better to bring THREE axes - that way you can use one
   to smash the <insert name of hated/feared instrument>.

6. Ligatures. Probably better discuss this off-list. ;)
