Folks--
OK, it's my own Duckdam fault: the saxophones thread reminded me of a kinkier and even more disreputable variety of reed-instrument called the 'sarrousophone'. So i did a google-search on it and found this URL as the first hit: http://www.saxduo.com/graphic/sax%20pix/saxpix.htm (pictures of various kinds of saxophones, including the sarrousophone).
One of the icons at the bottom said, "Surprise Photo!", and not being a person of an even keel i of course clicked on it. I was taken to a website for the Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra, with the biggest ducking saxophone i've ever seen (a 6'8" contrabass saxophone "that makes a foghorn sound effeminate"). At the bottom of that page was another link "to the Whales Page", and of course i clicked on it to get another shot of this goofy group (at http://www.nuclearwhales.com/).
They claim to play all sorts of music, including jazz, swing, and classical (gulp). Has anyone heard them? They any good? See what excessive time on one's hands does?
Dan
P. S. Who played a sarrousophone on a jazz record? No peeking.
