       Ma'm, I'm sure you'll get a mountain of replies from this list alone,
because your second cousin was arguably the greatest jazz trombonist who has
ever lived.   I'm a clarinetist myself, but I have worked with many men who
have also worked with Jack over the years.  For them and certainly for me,
Jack was--is still--a kind of iconic figure, larger than life.

   I don't know about the tape you mention, but I have at least one half
hour tape of Jack with one of his many bands, and someone on the list will
surely know where you can order most of the extant material.

   I doubt that you are aware of Jack Teagarden's fame among musicians, but
I can assure you that it is comparable to that of Babe Ruth among baseball
fans.  By all means, learn all you can: you will be studying a worthy
subject!
