Does anybody here remember the jazz (OKOM) scene in NYC in the early
'50s? Condon's and Nick's in Greenwich Village and the two Bar Mitvah
halls on 2nd Ave, The Stuyvesant Casino and The Central Plaza. Condon's
and Nick's had waiters in Tuxedos. The Casino and the Plaza had beer in
pitchers; $2.00 a pitcher. Such, such were the joys.

Yeah Mort:

And The Cinderella Club in the Village, and the German American Club on
86th, and Jimmy Ryan's on 52nd Street, the Metropole on B'Way., The
Melody Lounge in Sunnyside, The Hotel Carlton in Rockville Centre, the
305 Club in Garden City, whatever that club was in Roosevelt LI NY where
I saw Miff Mole and Billy Maxted jammin. etc., etc. I grew up there and
in all the other clubs in the NY Metro area. So much jazz, so little
time. And the Tiana beach Club in Westhampton. Didn't get to see it all,
Played at some, and gave both a good try.
