[Dixielandjazz] Philip Catherine Quartet

Last night I enjoyed a concert with the Philip Catherine Quartet in the
Porgy en Bess Jazz club in Terneuzen, a small town on the border of the
Netherlands and Belgium. Three of the four musicians are Belgian. Except
Philip Catherine, (Mingus called him "The Young Reinhardt"), there was Bert
Joris on trumpet and flugelhorn and Philippe Aerts on bass. The drummer was
Hans van Oosterhout from the Netherlands. Especially Bert Joris has a
beautiful sound on his trumpet, especially when he is playing soft on his
flugelhorn or muted trumpet.

It is a pity that Philip Catherine, well known in Europe, is so unknown in
the US.
