Dear Bob,
Stop!
Don't panic!
Let's wait until Mr Sandoval does his Bix thing at THAT festival.
And proves a point. Or not.
Although I must admire his courage!
Or ego.
Nicholas Payton was no Louis.
And dear Mr Wynton M keeps trying OKOM.
It's all in our 'ear', as some of you know.
Why do people like Bob Barnard come to mind?
(Because he has been my mate since about 1949?)
The best (young) OKOM jazz cornet player in the world today?
Knows Louis and Bix instinctively.
And what about another mate?
Bent Persson from Sweden. Knows Bix and Louis inside out.
And why did they ignore the greatest US Bix specialist of the lot, Tom Pletcher?
(Another mate.)
But then, as several DJMLers (wink, wink, say no more) said recently. You lot in
the cradle of jazz are so insular.
Lots of grins and a few 8>) thingos as well.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
PS: It was a good gig today.
Perhaps you can tell.
