Here is an example of a general audience venue, perfect for Dixieland.
This e mail just went out to 500 fans of the Barbone Street Jazz Band
and 2000 on the email list of horse lovers in the PA, NJ, DE area of the USA.
Similar notices were sent snail mail to those w/o computers.
There are lots of "Horse Events" of this size (10,000 spectators) in the
world. They are a perfect venue for OKOM. BSJB has been doing this one
for 10 years now, which led to gigs in several other large horse shows
locally.
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
PS to the "Former Marine" on Wake Island. If you are in this part of the
world on September 7, don't miss this event.
SAVE THE DATE - SEP 7 (SUN)
DIXIELAND JAZZ, Equestrian Competition, and Dog Agility Trials all
combine at "The Laurels at Landhope International Combined Driving Event
& Autumn Celebration."
On Sunday, September 7, THE BARBONE STREET JAZZ BAND will perform a Jazz
Concert on the show grounds from Noon to 2:00 PM. The concert will also
be broadcast live on Chester County Radio Station WCOJ, 1520 AM.
At the same time, about 100 Horses and Carriages will be competing in
one area while Dog Agility Trials will be held in another. It is all
part of a fabulous weekend in the beautiful, rolling hills, horse
country of Chester County, PA.
The Laurels CDE takes place over 3 days from September 5 through
September 7. Barbone Street Jazz Band performs on 2 days. Saturday,
September 6 in the Patron's Tent in quartet form and Sunday, Sept 8 in 6
piece form at the above mentioned Jazz Concert.
There will also be "Boutique Shopping" on the grounds with more than 20
choices of eclectic vendors to visit. Food is also, available.
It is a beautiful outside setting (bring a lawn chair) on 45 acres of
pristine farmland that has been converted into the premier International
Equestrian Driving Competition Facility in the USA. One day parking is
$10 which admits all occupants of the vehicle, or "all event parking"
for 3 days is only $15 and admits all occupants. WHAT A BARGAIN.
I guarantee you've never seen anything like this event. I also guarantee
you have never heard a live jazz band anything like Barbone Street's 6
piece group which will perform Sunday.
So come on out and enjoy both.
