Hello all,
Continuing the Library of Congress narrative, the following 4 AFS numbers
are presented for your viewing :
1655 A - Low Down Blues - THE MISERERE "So I swung a few of these operatic
tunes."
1655 B - Low Down Blues - ("I could sit right here and think a thousand
miles away.")
1656 A - The Winding Boy - (This AFS number contains new "dust jacket"
information).
1656 B - The Winding Boy - WININ' BOY No. 1
Readers should be aware that a number of the narratives contain lurid
language of an offensive nature. To retain historical accuracy no attempt
has been made to censor them.
I have recently had the pleasure of making contact with Harold Hopkins, who
lived in Washington DC. He knew Roy Carew, George W. Kay, Beale Riddle and
many jazz artists who happened to be in the Washington DC area. Harold
took many photographs, at various jazz events, with a Speedgraphic Pacemaker
using black and white cut film.
I have posted two of Harold's portrait photographs of Kid Ory with Roy Carew
and Danny Barker in the PHOTOGRAPH GALLERY. The thumbnails are toward the
bottom of the page. Just click on them to enlarge.
The 4 AFS updates and the photographs can be accessed from the UPDATED PAGES
BOX at :

Then just scroll down to the NEW revolving icons. Hope you enjoy.
Musically yours
Mike
