Hi everyone,


I'm a "new member."   Actually have been reading posts a few months, but haven't added much yet :)

By way of introduction..... my name is Jon Seiger, and I'm a trumpeter, pianist, and singer. I currently reside in Rochester, NY, but grew up in NYC, and travel quite a bit for work (gigs:).  Studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, and growing up I studied with Roy Eldridge. I am a professional musician, and make my "full time" living that way. I am also a deaf person, and am one of obviously very few deaf musicians. I read lips well, and speak (I was not born deaf, lost my hearing later), and I do have a cochlear implant which helps in some situations (but not a whole lot for music).

I just returned from playing at the Festival de Jazz en Abril, in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and had a blast. The people treated me great, and the musicians were great. Lots of great dixielans, swing, (OKOM:), etc.    Getting ready to play up in Canada soon, and then going back with my band to the Ocho Rios Jamaica Jazz Festival in Jamaica, in June.  Plus, of course, lots of local gigs, weddings, parties, festivals, etc.  Last year we were fortunate enough to perform at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (we had a blast!), and next year we have a lot of stuff planned, including the Suncoast Dixieland Classic.

I am always looking for musician friends to correspond with, learn from, share ideas, and have a few laughs :) And hopefully get to meet some of you at various festivals, etc. So feel free to email me, or check out our website at www.jonseigerallstars.net .
