Dear Ingemar,
More information is required to track down the information you ask for.
However, this is what I have, some or all of which you may already have.
MELPOMENE STREET BLUES
Melpomene is a street in New Orleans and a band/musician has more than likely
used the name for a blues tune, although I was unable to find any listed
anywhere.
SHOO SKEETER SHOO
Froggy's Jazz Index (listed on Google - a Buddy Bolden chronology) says:
"1905. 21 July: Board of Health announces yellow fever outbreak [4].
Major public drive to stamp out disease carrying mosquitos by covering cisterns
and draining or oiling standing water.
Bolden's Band (and other Black bands) participate in public education with song
"Shoo Skeeter Shoo" [6]
Published Music: Shoo Skeeter Shoo, Phillip Werlein Co New Orleans, words by
Percy Cahill, music by Sebastian Lutz. "
My friend, Daniel Hardie, in his book 'The Loudest Trumpet', lists the tune in
the index.
However, as the index to my copy is corrupted (with page numbers in excess of
what are in the book) I was unable to quickly locate his reference.
Dan is on DJML, so may be able to clarify this.
I´M GOING WHEN JESUS CALLS ME and THE HOUSE GOT READY.
I need further information. Have you seen them listed anywhere?
Do you have recordings/sheet music?
Very kind regards,
Bill.
