Hi John,
Fabulous!! So glad you put one of my favorite tunes on MIDI. I have no clue
what MIDI means, since I take a somewhat snobistic pride by claiming that I
am digitally challenged. That applies to both the transfer of MIDI files, but
also, and more importantly, to my own God-given digits. We talked about it
some time ago off-list. I still cannot grab a tenth with my left hand to get
that quintessential left-hand stride bass. The good news is that I now have
a regular piano gig in a pizza joint in Mesa, Arizona. The great advantage of
this gig is that nobody listens to what I am playing (with a few much
appreciated exceptions), so I, basically, get paid for practicing the piano.
Besides, I get to drink all the Killian's Red Ale I want and the (free) pizza
is excellent. As I recall, the West Coast Revival started in a pizza joint,
so there is hope for me yet.
I'd love to have the transcription of "I'm coming Virginia" and I will
contact you off list about that. The point is that, when I feel depressed, I
log on to your website. As long as there is someone who can play piano like
you, I feel that I still have a chance. Of course this becomes a circular
argument: the better you play, the more depressed I get!
Regards,
Rob van der Plas
