Some of the musicians I use are in other bands, and I usually
 mention those bands though noth always.  I think it's kind of
sneaky for a guy to go behind your back, but, hey, there's work
for all.  I know one bandleader in this area who fires musicians
who do that.  I think it would be better to talk to the musician
and get it out into the open. Lay down some rules, even if it's just
that he/she/they ask in the future before promoting themselves
or their bands on your gig.  Some leeway is called for, I believe.
I just don't like the sneaky aspect of it.  Of course, sometimes,
someone, such as a pianist, could give their card for those occasions
where only a pianist is called for.
