When my high school jazz band was playing jobs we always hid the gin in the
bell of the tuba.

Funny story from my AF band days......
While returning on a Navy C47 plane from Morrocco to Torrejon AB, Madrid
in the mid '60's, the band noted that our tuba player was holding his
sousaphone in his lap! He made feeble excuses as why it wasn't in its
case in the hold. Later found out he had packed his case full of
marijuana plants he had pulled, roots & all, out of the ground while in
Morrocco! :>
