Steve, you have to be kidding with this, " he and the All Stars read
"Hello dolly" quite easily in 1963"
Anybody could read that...it's the way they played it in a swinging
dixieland jazz style that is so outstanding. BTW, Louis doesn't really solo
on it , he leads a magnificent ensemble with some outstanding trombone by
Trummy Young. There is nothing 'awful' about that tune though it has been
played 'awfully'
by many corny-ass bands. NOT by Louis, though...he could turn any tune into
pure gold.
