Dear Listers:

I noted the comments about the virus hoax, and attempts to validate it one
way or another. An easy way to check out odd bits and pieces that seem too
good (or too something) to be true is to go to www.snopes.com. Snopes
checks out urban legends, and validates some and debunks the rest.

Here's what Snopes had to say about the virus hoax in question:

In this case the target file is JDBGMGR.EXE, a Java Debug Manager program
used by the Microsoft Java runtime engine. This file is included as part of
a standard Windows installation and is not a "virus." (The icon for this
file is a graphic of a bear.)

Snopes has saved me from passing on some real nonsense. Maybe you will like
it, too.
