This is sad news, I knew Bill well and played piano in his band many times.
There cannot be a mature London-based jazzman who did not come into contact
with Bill at some stage.

He was a typical London East Ender and did not pretend to be a skilled,
sophisticated musician. The Lord Napier in Croydon, where he was an
institution, will not be the same without him.

If anybody knows the funeral arrangements please pass them on, I would like
to attend if I can.
