Several wonderful piano solo moments come to mind.

Jess Stacy's solo with Goodman Band at Carnegie Hall, you all know the
one. That was a magical moment for Stacy and thrilling for the listener.

Thelonious Monk's solo on "Bag's Groove", Prestige 1954 (Bags being the
nickname of Milt Jackson). That F# following a series of Cs and Fs was
called the "purest monent in Jazz" by critic Andre Hodeir.

Then there is Fats Waller on either "Keepin Out of Mischief Now", or "I
Ain't Got Nobody." circa 1937.

Or Jelly Roll's solos on "Froggy More" or "Marmanita" or "Harmony
Blues", from the 1920s.

Teddy Wilson on "Body & Soul" with the Goodman Trio circa 1935.

Art Tatum on either "Willow Weep For Me" (1949) or "Too Marvelous For
Words" (1956)

And hundreds more.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone

Bud Powell on "Somebody Loves Me", Bud Powell Trio 1947
