No -- just a clown. He was married and had children. His son Maurice, who
died several years ago, was a pretty fair stride player himself. Fats was
noted for hanging out with the ladies and the jug, and was as noted for his
clowning as his striding. He was, by all accounts a roaring heterosexual
alcoholic.
