Lonnie Donegan dies at 71

LONDON (Reuters) - Legendary "King of Skiffle" Lonnie Donegan has died
at the age of 71 after collapsing while on tour, according to his
publicist.

The singer, renowned for such hits as "Rock Island Line", "My Old Man's
a Dustman" and "Cumberland Gap", died with his wife Sharon and son
Peter at his side on Sunday in Peterborough, central England.

"He had been complaining of back trouble for some days and had been
forced to cancel two shows because of it," his publicist said in a
statement on Monday. He had also suffered several heart attacks.

Donegan, a key figure in the skiffle craze that swept across Britain in
the 1950s, had been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as one of
the country's biggest hit-makers of all time.
