Thanks for the recall, Gene. Wasn't Andy Bartha on that gig. Bob Hirsch
on piano? I had forgotten about the fight with Clancy and Frank chase. I
remember that my wife got sick as usual and I had to go back home.

Andy Bartha had recently come off a long stint with Pee Wee hunt and he
was paranoid about it. He thought that the musicians were making fun of him
because he had been with Hunt. Which was absurd. One night for some reason
we played the 12 St Rag. Frank Chase went into that classic cornball
clarinet chorus from Pee Wee Hun't hit record. Andy Bartha totally freaked
out as he thought that Chase was doing this as a deliberate taunt.

It's interesting that eddie Hubble replaced me as I replaced him once with
the Dukes. Frank Assunto called me at home once in a panic. He said "Eddie
Hubble has been naking negative remarks about me and the band on the stand
during the gig and I finally hauled off and slugged him...right on the
stand." He begged me to come and I did.
