Dear Luis,
There is contradictory information that Buddy
Bolden introduced the cup mute. Some witnesses
say he did, others say they never saw him using
one. Another source said Bolden's trombonist Wil.
Cornish used a bottle to mute his trombone.Mutt
Carey said it was King Oliver who introduced it to
the cornet. Others attribute it to Fred Keppard. I
don't know if that helps
